History and Mission

YalMusT, Yale’s Music and Multimedia Technology Labs, opened in the Fall of 1998. The YalMusT Labs serve a variety of constituencies - undergraduates, graduate students, professional students, staff and faculty - and functions in tandem with Yale’s Digital Media Center for the Arts and Center for Academic Media and Technology. Those faculty and students working at the YalMusT Labs focus on the creative interaction between music, video and technology, and the research, performance, and pedagogical impact of that focus. Students enrolled in composition classes, fundamental musicianship courses, music theory classes, music history courses, as well as courses in our music, video and technology series, and those pursuing graduate studies use the YalMusT Labs’ facilities.
