Facilities & Equipment

Our suite of general software tools includes programs for archiving; ear training; interactive composition and performance; digital recording, mixing, and sequencing; digital graphics, multimedia, and video; notation; research; and digital synthesis and sampling.

Rm. 405, the YalMusT Notation Lab, is a general-use studio featuring a number of iMac workstations, two of which are notation and print workstations, and the others are music and multimedia workstations, each equipped with M-Audio Axiom 61 keyboard controllers and Sony headphones. All of the workstations have our suite of general software tools. Room 405 has an instructor’s workstation with a 5.1 surround sound system, and an interactive Annotation system.  It is accessible to all members of the Yale community.

Rms. 401/402, the YalMusT Advanced Lab, are an advanced music and multimedia lab environment featuring a number of iMac workstations, each equipped with M-Audio Axiom 61 Pro keyboard controllers and Sony headphones. Each workstation has advanced development and research software, as well as our suite of general software tools. Room 402 has an instructor’s workstation with a 5.1 surround sound system, and an interactive Annotation system.  Access is restricted to Department of Music faculty, graduate students, and students enrolled in Music 312, 313, 325, 395, 412, 413, and 486.

Rm. 403, the YalMusT Advanced Studio is an advanced music and multimedia studio. It features an advanced digital audio workstation, a digital mixer/controller, a 5.1 surround sound system, a variety of professional-quality microphones, and audio tie-ins for recording audio from Rm. B01 in Stoeckel Hall. The workstation has our suite of general software tools. Access is restricted to students enrolled in Music 325, 471, 472, 490, and 491.

Rm. 407, the YalMusT Digital Technology Classroom, is an advanced digital technology classroom environment featuring portable laptops, an instructor’s workstation with a 5.1 surround sound system, an interactive SmartBoard, and an M-Audio Axiom 61 Pro keyboard controller. The workstation has advanced development and research software, as well as our suite of general software tools. Room 407 has an instructor’s workstation with a 5.1 surround sound system, an interactive Annotation system, and an with M-Audio Axiom 61 Pro keyboard controller.  It is accessible for faculty and teaching assistants for use in technology-based instruction.
